Two things change in your Meta ad account this month. One switches on by itself unless you opt out before 28 October. The other takes effect on 30 October whether you agree or not. Neither arrives as an email you are likely to read — so here is what each one does, and how to check in five minutes whether it touches your account.
Two changes inside three days, in the run-up to your busiest quarter.
28 October: A New Step Between Your Ad and Your Customer
Meta's notice to advertisers reads: "Starting October 28, 2026, we'll add product browsing to your existing ads."
In plain terms: when someone taps your ad, they may no longer go straight to your website or your WhatsApp. They may first land on a page inside Facebook or Instagram showing product details — and suggested items alongside yours.
It is switched on by default, on ads you are already running. Nothing is required from you for it to happen.
How the click works now
How it may work from 28 October
One extra screen, and a page that shows other businesses alongside yours.
Why this matters more in Pakistan
Most Pakistani businesses getting real results from Meta are running Click-to-WhatsApp ads. Somebody sees the ad, taps, and lands in a conversation with your sales team. That short path is the whole reason it works here.
Anything inserted into that path costs enquiries. People tap an ad with low intent to begin with, and every extra screen is somewhere to lose them. If your campaigns are built around a fast tap-to-message flow, a browsing page in the middle is worth taking seriously.
Meta has not confirmed which countries, advertiser types or ad formats this covers. Its reported testing named e-commerce, CPG and retail advertisers, across roughly 117,700 accounts globally.
So it may not touch your account at all. Do not panic, and do not let anyone sell you a panic. Check whether the notice is there, and opt out if it is.
Two ways to switch it off
The notice in Ads Manager
If Meta has sent you the notification, it carries an "Opt out" button. It stops working after the 28th. It is unclear whether it covers one ad account or all of them, so check every account you run — not just the main one.
The per-ad toggle
A setting under Advantage+ Creative and in Destination settings. You can change this whenever you like, before or after the deadline. Worth knowing where it lives either way.
No notice in Ads Manager? You are probably not in the rollout. Check again nearer the date rather than assuming.
30 October: New Terms, and No Opt-Out
Meta's updated Commercial Terms and Self-Serve Ad Terms take effect on 30 October. Still advertising after that date means you have accepted them. There is no alternative version to agree to.
Meta can test on your campaigns without telling you
The terms allow tests affecting delivery, targeting, creative, pricing and reporting — without advance notice, and with no stated time limit.
What to do: keep your own record of normal. A month where cost per result moves for no reason you can find in your account may not be your fault, and you will only know that if you wrote the numbers down first.
You are liable for AI content — including Meta's own
If an ad is made with AI, you are responsible for what it says. That holds even when Meta's own tools generated it, which is the part most advertisers will miss. Removing AI watermarks or authentication metadata is prohibited outright.
What to do: list which ads came from Advantage+ creative, generative video, or any outside AI tool. Undisclosed AI content can get ads rejected or an account suspended.
Meta can crawl your website for AI training
The terms grant broad rights to crawl your site and use what is found for AI development and training — not only your product catalogue.
What to do: look at what is publicly reachable on your own domain. Internal pricing sheets, supplier terms, draft pages nobody linked but nobody protected either. Not because Meta is targeting you — because "we never linked to it" has never meant private.
What to Actually Do This Week
If Your Enquiries Drop in November
Do not assume these changes are the reason. In the accounts we audit, most sudden drops in Pakistan come from something far more ordinary — leads sitting in Meta's Leads Centre with nothing collecting them, a WhatsApp number nobody is checking, or tracking that quietly stopped firing.
Work through the seven places leads get lost before concluding the platform broke your campaign. Most of the time it did not.

Frequently Asked Questions
What changes in Meta ads on 28 October 2026?
Meta adds product browsing to ads that are already running. When someone taps your ad they may first see a page inside Facebook or Instagram with product details and suggested items, instead of going straight to your website. It is switched on by default and you must opt out before 28 October.
How do I opt out of Meta product browsing?
Two ways. The notice in Ads Manager has an Opt out button that works until 28 October. There is also a per-ad toggle under Advantage+ Creative and Destination settings, which you can change at any time, including after the deadline.
Does this affect Click-to-WhatsApp ads in Pakistan?
Meta has not confirmed which countries, advertiser types or formats are covered, and its testing named e-commerce, CPG and retail advertisers. Check whether the notice appears in your Ads Manager. If it does, opt out, because an extra screen between the ad and the WhatsApp conversation costs enquiries.
What are Meta's new advertiser terms on 30 October 2026?
Updated Commercial Terms and Self-Serve Ad Terms. Meta can run tests affecting delivery, targeting, creative, pricing and reporting without notice; you are liable for AI-generated ad content including content made by Meta's own tools; and Meta gains broad rights to crawl your website for AI development and training. Continuing to advertise after 30 October counts as accepting them.
Can I refuse Meta's new terms?
No. There is no opt-out and no alternative version. If you advertise on Meta after 30 October, the terms apply to your account.
Am I responsible for ads made with Meta's own AI tools?
Yes. Under the updated terms you are responsible for AI-generated ad content even when Meta's tools created it. Removing AI watermarks or authentication metadata is prohibited, and undisclosed AI content can lead to ads being rejected or an account suspended.
